If the Giants release James Bradberry, the Eagles may want to make a few calls.

Technically not a free agent yet and most certainly far from being under the radar, James Bradberry could be an option if the growing rumors of his release from the New York Giants continue. A potential cap hit of just under $22 million means this is a divorce that seems to be unavoidable. The G-Men are a team that’s in transition (again), and the coin they’d save by allowing Bradberry to walk could allow them to fill some holes on a roster that has many.

As Eagles fans, you’ve gotten to know Bradberry very well over the past two seasons. He was one of the top two sought-after cover guys in free agency during the 2020 offseason along with Byron Jones. Philly missed out on both, leading vice president/general manager Howie Roseman to strike a deal to land Darius Slay via trade.

How cool would it be if Slay and Bradberry wound up being teammates now? How fired up might Bradberry be for Philly’s annual clashes versus Big Blue?

As far as the resume goes, it speaks for itself. Entering year seven of his NFL life, James is still among the game’s best. He made the Pro Bowl in 2020, and even though it feels like he’s been in the NFL for ten seasons, he’s only 28 and turns 29 on August 4th. This could be a no-brainer for Philly if he’s indeed released.
