As we await the release of the Philadelphia Eagles schedule, it’s hard not to grab your phone every time you hear your iPhone and Android alert you of a notification. Sadly, these days, it’s often been to inform you that Best Buy has a sale and the makers of your device’s software had just blocked another spam call.
In the hours leading up to the release of the 2022-2023 NFL schedule, that changed though. Samsung and Apple did us all a solid.
The Philadelphia Eagles’ first opponent of the 2022 season is announced, and we learn of what could be an early Christmas present.
Here’s one you’ll need to put in your phone’s planner! According to Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer, the Philadelphia Eagles’ first opponent of the 2022-2023 NFL season has been announced, and it’s the Detroit Lions.
That one goes down on Sunday, September 11th at 1:00 p.m. E.S.T. at Ford Field in the Motor City. We learned of the Eagles’ Week 2 home-opener on Monday Night Football a few days ago. There’s also one more thing (and this might be the best part).
The Birds travel to Arlington, Texas to face the Dallas Cowboys for a clash on Christmas Eve. What could be better than knowing that, regardless of what’s under the tree on December 25th, you woke up knowing Philly had taken care of the so-called America’s Team to get everyone feeling festive?
There are quite a few storylines to be mindful of for that one. One, Jalen Hurts is 0-2 as the Eagles’ starter versus Dallas. Second, Dallas is enjoying a three-game winning streak over the Birds. Third, if you’re a history buff, these two age-old rivals met on Christmas back in 2006 and on Christmas Eve back in 2011.
Both games were won by Philly by scores of 23-7 and 20-7. Let’s hope a similar beatdown is on its way.
