54. . . . Gardner Minshew, quarterback. 10. player

The Eagles could look to trade these players during the season, rather than in the offseason.

Possible trade partners: Houston Texans, Carolina Panthers, Detroit Lions

Fire up the quarterback factory! The Philadelphia Eagles could look to move their backup signal-caller and acquire a player or some mid-to-late round future draft capital if they find the right partner or both.

The Eagles acquired Gardner Minshew for a conditional sixth-round selection in the 2022 NFL Draft prior to the 2021-2022 season, and that paid dividends, if for no other reason, because he started a game versus the New York Jets and won. In other words, the backup did his job.

It doesn’t take much to get teams’ attention by discussing Minshew. He’s a reliable backup. He’s won as a starter, and that’s necessary for competing in today’s NFL.

The Birds’ decision to sign undrafted free agent Carson Strong has raised a few eyebrows, and in the eyes of some, he’s made Minshew expendable. He’s only signed with Philadelphia for one more year, and if the organization wants to get something valuable by way of his departure, they may never get more for him than they could get for him now.

Several teams could use a serviceable backup quarterback (one that could compete for the starting job). If the Eagles find the right trade partner and wait for the right time, they could end up dealing him for more than they gave up to acquire him. After all, they dealt Gardner Minshew for a conditional sixth-round draft pick, and even that has to feel like a huge win.
