Your heart goes out to Reid Sinnett, but he probably won’t make the Eagles roster now.

Raise your hands if you have a tendency to forget, from time to time, that Reid Sinnett still occupies a spot on the Eagles roster. No one would take your fan badge from you if that’s the case. There’s been so much to talk about that a fringe third-string quarterback’s name hasn’t been given much mention.

Even before the news broke of Philadelphia’s surprise acquisition of undrafted rookie Carson Strong, a former Nevada Wolf Pack standout, it just felt like any addition the Birds made to the quarterback room would jeopardize Sinnett’s job security. No one would have been surprised if Strong would have been drafted. No one should be shocked if Philly elects to keep the rookie over Reid.

2022 Cap Hit/Dead Cap Money

Reid Sinnett counts as $825,000 against the Eagles’ cap in 2022. He costs the team nothing in dead cap money if they release him. Contrarily, Strong was given a $991,667 purse for year one. That includes a signing bonus of $20,000 and $320,000 in guaranteed money. Strong also counts as $6,667 in dead cap dollars.

That’s a long-winded way of saying this. It appears that all roads lead to the practice squad, if that, for Sinnett in 2022.
