Jordan Howard, running back. . player. 54. . .

Jordan Howard deserves an apology from some of the Philadelphia Eagles faithful, including us.

Well, we had to irritate a few people, and Jordan Howard has given us the opportunity to do so. A fan favorite, this young man represents the intersection of about four theories that we know to be true.

First, the desire for a workhorse back on this Philadelphia Eagles’ roster is obvious. Second, when Philly looks for help, they often look for guys that they already know and are familiar with.

There are other sides to those coins though, and here are the final two points. Howard, though he runs physically, has never been able to prove that he can withstand the rigors of a full NFL season. He’s also one of those players that fans and the media can’t get on the same page about.

The Inside The Iggles staff has disagreed on Jordan Howard often. Some saw him as a nice fixture in the Eagles’ power running game. Some of us saw him as being broken down after watching his first stint in Philly end and after watching the tape he put together while tallying a 1.2 yards-per-carry average with the Miami Dolphins.

In the end, those of us that doubted him were wrong, so here’s our retraction. He’s a true professional and a baller. Still, he plays the game’s most punishing position.

It’s probably time that the Birds hand the ball to someone younger to fill his role, and they may have that with the addition of former Oklahoma Sooners running back Kennedy Brooks. The Eagles truly have something special having added him to the roster.
