The Philadelphia Eagles run defense will be much better with Brandon Graham on the field.

What B.G. contributes to the Philadelphia Eagles’ run game is what separates him from the pure pass rushers we see in today’s game. He’s, by no means, a one-trick pony.

Jonathan Gannon’s defense was consistently gashed on the interior in 2020. Graham plays on the edge but certainly could’ve provided help in that area on certain fronts. There are instances in each game he’s appeared in where he can be seen finding his way into the backfield before anyone else is able to get there.

Since 2015, he ranks ninth in tackles that result in a loss of yardage with 78 total. He was ranked sixth in that category prior to his injury. From 2015 to 2019, Graham was ranked top ten among edge rushers in defensive stops according to PFF. Those plays provide much more breathing room for any defense on second and third down and could have made a difference for Philly.

Whether it’s a forced fumble, a run fit in the B or C gap, or a huge hit on the quarterback to force a turnover or a fourth-down scenario, B.G. is a gamechanger. The passion he plays with is contagious. The players and fans feed off of it every single snap. Getting him back in the midnight green in Lincoln Financial Field is going to be a major advantage for the Birds. We cannot wait to see Brandon Graham on the field versus Detroit for Week 1.
