The Eagles said goodbye to some familiar faces during the 2022 NFL offseason.

The only constant in the NFL is change. After introducing a new coaching staff in 2021, the Philadelphia Eagles move into year two. The roster was given a facelift, but in order to do so, they had to say goodbye to some familiar faces.

Notable losses

  • Brandon Brooks -retired on January 21st, Added to reserve/retired list on May 29th
  • Nate Herbig – waived on April 29th
  • Craig James – released on July 13th
  • Hassan Ridgeway – free agent (signed by the San Francisco 49ers on March 21st)
  • Alex Singleton – free agent (signed by the Denver Broncos on March 18th)
  • Jordan Howard – free agent (still unsigned)
  • Rodney McLeod – free agent (signed by the Indianapolis Colts on April 14th)
  • Steven Nelson – free agent (signed by the Houston Texans on April 14th)
  • Genard Avery – free agent (signed by the Pittsburgh Steelers on March 28th)
  • Joe Ostman – released on May 23rd

Worth mentioning: The Eagles lost both starters and key contributors at several positions, and to their credit, they found upgrades for most of them. The jury is out on whether or not that statement applies to Rodney McLeod or not, but Jaqiski Tartt, if he can stay healthy, will contribute mightily to the Birds on defense. Keep an eye on him as we move through the season.
