They’re loaded at the position, but the Philadelphia Eagles have a lot of questions to answer at defensive tackle.

Somewhere, right now, there’s an eAthlete thinking about Electronic Arts’ Madden NFL 23 simulation. You can best believe that one of the thoughts on his or her mind revolves around how much fun the Philadelphia Eagles are going to be and how much fun they’ll be to play with. After watching vice president/general manager Howie Roseman build a monster squad during the most recent offseason, expectations are high for some fireworks on defense.

It’s like having all of these chess pieces that can be moved all over the field but with the added bonus of knowing that most aren’t restricted to one style of movement.

We haven’t seen him in a while, but we also know that, somewhere, Philly’s defensive coordinator, Jonathan Gannon, is preparing for the coming regular season. He’s been chewing on the knowledge that he has a ton of weapons for a while. We’re sure he’s gone to sleep with a smile on his face for a while.

There’s still work to do. The Birds have to assemble a 53-man roster. Questions will need to be answered, but here’s what we do know.

It’s long been the business model to build from the interior of the defensive line. Their success will spearhead J.G.’s guys all season.

The defensive tackle position might be Philly’s deepest. They have four legitimate starters on the roster, but questions still need to be answered. We could probably list about 20 of them, but here are three that are on everyone’s mind.
