5 Keys to success for the Philadelphia Eagles defense in 2022
Here are three other theories the Eagles should employ defensively as we move through the season.
Don’t expect too much from Jordan Davis and Nakobe Dean too soon.
Jordan Davis and Nakobe Dean are going to be great for the Eagles, and the best part about all of this is they don’t have to enter the pressure cooker too early. They’ll play big roles in the defense’s success in, but keep two things in mind.
Davis will share snaps with Fletcher Cox, Javon Hargrave, and Milton Williams, and that will be great for all parties involved. There are theories that suggest that Dean is so talented that, eventually, he could take over play-calling duties, but for now, it might be wise to expect the Birds are going to take their time in bringing along both guys.
Let Darius Slay and James Bradberry play press coverage.
Let’s keep this short and sweet. Darius Slay and James Bradberry are two of the best press corners in the National Football League. No one wants to see them playing a ton of zone or seven yards off of the line of scrimmage.
Be aggressive!
In the past, we’ve stated that the Birds just didn’t have the talent, and we’ve said that during stints of both Jonathan Gannon and Jim Schwartz’s tenures as defensive coordinator. Those days are gone.
Some still see the safety position as a weak area. This team’s depth at outside cornerback leaves much to be desired, but this Philadelphia Eagles defense is stacked. If J.G. trusts his players and allows them to play aggressively, they could be fun to watch all season.
