Cam Smith, cornerback, South Carolina. . player. 850. . .

Cam Smith and Joey Porter Jr. would be awesome additions to the Eagles’ secondary.

Okay, we mentioned Keelee Ringo as one of the top ten cornerbacks in the NCAA right now. We sort of feel obligated to make mention of who we think the top guys are.

Sure, it’s August, and this list will be shuffled many times, but without there being any recent game film to watch, let’s say these are the guys.

  1. Antonio Johnson, Texas A&M Aggies
  2. Devon Witherspoon, Illinois
  3. Emmanuel Forbes, Mississippi State
  4. Clark Phillips III, Utah
  5. Brian Branch, CB, Alabama
  6. Eli Ricks, CB, Alabama
  7. Kelee Ringo, Georgia
  8. Brandon Joseph, Northwestern
  9. Joey Porter Jr., Penn State
  10. Lathan Ransom, Ohio State

Cam Smith is a 188-pound, six-foot redshirt junior that could be a candidate for postseason honors after earning All-SEC honors from the Associated Press in 2021. Place an asterisk by his name.

. player. 806. . . . Joey Porter Jr., cornerback, Penn State

The son of a Pittsburgh Steelers legend, Joey Porter Jr. could make waves this season, make a name for himself, and work his way into some second-round discussions. The Birds don’t normally draft cornerbacks in Round 1. They just simply won’t do it, so if making that type of play on day two becomes a conversation piece, we could see Joey Porter Sr. at Lincoln Financial Field in 2023.

Hey, stranger things have happened!
