Amon-Ra St. Brown is, quite possibly, Detroit’s answer to DeVonta Smith.

When the Eagles and Lions take the field on Sunday, two of the NFL’s best second-year wide receivers will share a portion of the spotlight. DeVonta Smith was the 2021 NFL Draft’s tenth-overall selection. Amon-Ra St. Brown is a fourth-rounder that caught three passes versus the Birds in Week 8 and took off from Week 13 through the end of the regular season.

Both have proven that they’re ready for heavier workloads. They could provide nice targets for their respective signal-callers in this one.

St. Brown emerged as one of a few bright spots of Detroit’s struggling offense (and season) last year He should continue to be a dependable target for quarterback Jared Goff. His final statistical tally: 90 receptions, 912 receiving yards, and five touchdowns in 17 games.

His final two games of his rookie season produced 100-yard receiving efforts. There’s no reason to believe that he won’t produce more as he enters his second full season. Let’s just hope that doesn’t begin with a dominating performance versus the Eagles.

Something tells us that he’ll see more than the five targets that were aimed at him a little over ten months ago.
