C.J. Gardner Johnson and Jake Elliott have a shot at representing the Eagles at the Pro Bowl.

The safety position has never been one that the Philadelphia Eagles have placed a ton of value in. Their starters Marcus Epps and C.J. Gardner-Johnson are excellent at what they do, but even with that being said, Epps is a former sixth-round draft selection while C.J.G.J. was added via a trade with the Saints on August 30th.

What’s interesting about Gardner-Johnson’s acquisition is it only occurred after it was determined that Anthony Harris and Jaquiski Tartt weren’t going to work out. Let’s just say that C.J. has made the most of his opportunity.

He’s fearless. He’s at times a highlight-reel waiting to happen, but if he comes up with a few more of those game-changing plays in key moments, he’ll be on the Pro Bowl roster. Fans and the media tend to love that stuff.

It’s good to know that the Eagles can be without the services of Jake Elliott and plug in a guy like Cameron Dicker, but let’s not act like Jake is expendable.

Sure Dicker the Kicker’s NFC Player of the Week nod after Week 5’s game may contradict that statement some, but Jake is coming off of a Pro Bowl season and probably on his way towards another.

We’ll take our chances with Jake any day of the week. We’d also be willing to wager he’d be a nice and unsurprising addition to any NFL all-star team.
