Best Prop Bets for Philadelphia Eagles versus Houston Texans in Week 9
What a week! It isn’t often that the Philadelphia Eagles take a backseat to the Phillies in the City of Brotherly Love, but come on. We’re talking about The World Series. Still, that leaves all of us with a dilemma on November 3rd. Both teams will be playing at the same time on Thursday.
The Phils hope to prove in Game 5 that they, not the Houston Astros, are Major League Baseball’s best team. The Birds get their taste of southern hospitality as they fly south to Magnolia City to battle the Texans, a team that they’ve never lost to.
Trust us on this one. There isn’t a Philly sports fan on Planet Earth that isn’t watching both games. Check out these prop bets. Hopefully, they can help you to the winner’s circle as well.
Philadelphia Eagles QB Jalen Hurts Passing TDs: Over 1.5 (-108)
Here’s an oversimplification of the facts. Jalen Hurts is on fire. After a four-touchdown performance versus the Pittsburgh Steelers, there seems to be no end to his phenomenal play.
We’re taking the over on his projected passing touchdowns total. We’re doing so for one very obvious reason.
Every time we watch the Texans play, we ask ourselves how they’re going to stop the Eagles’ offense from doing whatever they want to. Jalen throws for two touchdowns, and he may do so prior to halftime.
Philadelphia Eagles QB Jalen Hurts Passing Yards: Over 235.5 (-114)
FanDuel is calling the Eagles two-touchdown favorites. That makes a ton of sense. As stated, they’ve set Jalen Hurts’ projected touchdown total at 1.5. It’s already been expressed that it would be wise for you to take the over.
Houston’s secondary has potential, but they’re young. With that being said, there’s really no way to weigh all of that and then state that QB1 throws for less than 235 yards. Take the over here as well.
DeVonta Smith Alternate Receiving Yards Total: Over 40 (-215)
After watching him call plays for a while now, we all think that we understand the thought process of Eagles offensive coordinator Shane Steichen. Following a monster game by A.J. Brown in Week 8, he’s going to want to get Philly’s other offensive weapons involved on Thursday Night Football.
No one needs to be told that DeVonta Smith is a phenomenal talent. We’re also aware that, more than likely, he’ll draw the attention of the Texans’ second-best cover guy. Expect big things.
While we believe that taking the over on his receiving yards total (50.5 yards) is a safe play, if you’re looking to be even safer, you should go with the alternate total. FanDuel projects 40 yards receiving in that respect. Knowing DeVonta, he could find himself sniffing that number with three or four catches. He may even find his way into the end zone.
