The Philadelphia Eagles potentially have decisions to make on 21 free agents come next offseason.

We’ve figured something out. No, that isn’t true. We’ve actually known this for a while. It’s always wise to employ the one-game-at-a-time approach. It’s never a good idea to look too far ahead or get stuck on what has already happened. The Philadelphia Eagles can’t think about the Super Bowl, Jalen Hurts’ MVP chances, or the regular-season finale versus the New York Giants. All that matters right now is winning the game versus the New Orleans Saints on New Year’s Day. At least that’s how it should be, but we just can’t help ourselves. We keep thinking about possible playoff opponents, whether or not this player or that player will be back for the postseason run, and how difficult it would be to keep this team together.

Every debate leads us back to the same theory. We don’t play for the Philadelphia Eagles. It’s their job to stay focused on the task ahead, not ours. Sure, we want that second Vince Lombardi Trophy just like everyone else, but we can’t ignore those thoughts in the back of our minds.

This team has to win it all and do so right now. There’s no way that all of these guys will be back in 2023. Regardless of what happens from here on out, we know that decisions will have to be made on 21 impending free agents. We’d love to keep this squad together and make a couple of runs at the title, but we also know that will be impossible to achieve. Things are about to change.

Jalen Hurts is in the third year of his rookie deal, and he’s going to get paid. That’s going to affect things, but what about the guys on expiring and one-tear deals? That’s what we’ve been thinking about. We keep staring at them when the Birds are competing. We keep asking ourselves whether or not (insert player name) will be back in 2023.

Truthfully, we don’t have any answers. The Philadelphia Eagles don’t either, at least not right now, but in the meantime, just to appease ourselves, we tried to rank guys and put them in five tiers. Here’s what we came up with.
