Ranking Philadelphia Eagles potential 2023 offseason free agents
Eagles 2023 projected free agents: Tier 1, The ‘ they gotta have ’em back’ section
We don’t run the Eagles. We never will, but if we were to begin building the 2023 roster, here’s where we would start.
4. Rick Lovato, long snapper
No one pays any attention to long snappers until you notice that there’s one that isn’t doing his job well. That has never been the case with Rick Lovato. He has been so good and so reliable that it’s easy to forget he’s on the team sometimes.
This one is a no-brainer, and again, he’s a long-snapper so Howie Roseman should be able to lock him up without hindering his ability to make other key signings.
3. James Bradberry, cornerback
The silent assassin has done his job quietly and efficiently all year. He deserves to be on the Pro Bowl roster (and not as an alternate).
Signing James Bradberry would mean that the Eagles would enter the 2023 NFL season with two expensive outside cornerbacks who are over 30 years of age, but when you’re talking about someone who is this good, this isn’t a decision that needs to be taken lightly.
2. T.J. Edwards, linebacker
T.J. Edwards probably isn’t going to break the bank with a long-term deal, but that isn’t because he isn’t worthy of a massive number because he truly is. T.J. leads the team in both total and solo tackles. Philadelphia hasn’t always given the appropriate amount of attention to the linebacker corps, but they did a better job this season, and Number 57 has proven he’s someone this team can build around.
1. Jason Kelce, center
Well, you had to know that this is how things will turn out. On a list of Eagles with expiring contracts, Jason Kelce sits at the head of the class. He’s one of the best players at his position. He has shown no signs of deterioration. The fact of the matter is this. Jason Kelce has earned the right to play for this team until HE determines that he has had enough and is ready to hang the cleats up for good.
