During the recent rash of injuries that we have seen, there has been a singular theory that we’ve heard constantly. Regardless of which Philadelphia Eagles star we’re discussing, often the statement has been made that “(Insert the player’s name here) knows his body. While we get the intention, we question the validity. Sure, no one knows more about what Jalen Hurts or Lane Johnson is feeling than Jalen Hurts or Lane Johnson, but are they qualified to offer theories on recovery time and whether or not they should be available for the next game? That brings us to Josh Sweat.

It appears the fifth-year defensive tackle is okay. Good news had circulated, but again, often the best source for information is the man (or woman) that we’re discussing.

Josh Sweat offers an emotional thank you/prognosis for a return via Twitter.

As many of us were preparing to cap our Sunday and prepare for the week ahead, Josh did what many of our favorite athletes do. He logged into his Twitter account. Frankly, we’re glad he did.

Social media can be fun, but it’s also often littered with negativity. This time around, at about 9:47 p.m. EST while scrolling, we saw the best news that we’d seen all day. Josh Sweat offered his diagnosis/prognosis, and frankly, we haven’t smiled this much all week.

Hey, we’ll take it! Based on the way our day was going and after watching the Eagles lose to the New Orleans Saints, this was a great way to end our New Year’s Day.

Josh Sweat was injured while plowing headfirst into Saints fullback Adam Prentice in an attempt to make a routine tackle. Sadly, he never returned to a standing position.

He left the field on a medical cart and was transferred to a local Philadelphia medical facility. Most of us did our best to avoid fearing the worst. We hoped there were no head injuries. Good news finally arrived. It was reported that he had movement in all of his extremities and that he had sustained a neck injury.

Now, don’t get us wrong. We weren’t ecstatic about hearing that had happened either, but when the dust clears and the smoke settles, things seem to have worked out better than we could have imagined.

Thank goodness for that. We’ll continue to monitor his situation closely.

light. Trending. Silver linings for those dark Eagles clouds
