Eagles news: Jalen Hurts chances of Week 18 return trending upward
Wednesday’s Philadelphia Eagles practice was a walkthrough, but that didn’t diminish any of the intrigue. As they often are, all eyes were firmly fixated on Jalen Hurts. There would be no contact. There would be no activity that would place any of the Birds in harm’s way. Still, much of the talk since time expired on Philly’s Week 17 loss to the New Orleans Saints has surrounded QB1 and whether or not he can go in the regular-season finale (and how sturdy he would be if he does), so again, all eyes are on the guy wearing the red Number 1 jersey. Thursday’s session produced a similar vibe.
Guys were in sweatpants and shorts, and they ran through drills, one of which being a ball-security drill involving QB1. No one from Inside The Iggles staff was present, so thank SI’s John McMullen for the visual.
It appears QB1’s chances of appearing in Week 18’s clash with the G-Men are trending upward.
McMullen also penned a nice write-up, More Positive Signs for Jalen Hurts. Give that one a look when you have a moment.
More Eagles news: There are still no official answers to the questions that we keep asking.
We get it. The suspense is bothering you. We feel the same way. All we want is the answer to three questions.
- On a scale of one to ten, with ten being the highest, how healthy is Jalen Hurts?
- Is he playing Sunday or not? … We think he is, but no one truly knows for sure.
- Are the Giants playing their starters?
The answers to all of those questions are similar. We think we know what’s happening, but no one is certain of anything No official word has been given yet.
Truthfully, we didn’t expect Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni and his staff to give us any answers. Hey, the New York Giants aren’t telling us if they’re playing their starters or not, but here is the best-case scenario.
New York rests its starters. Jalen plays. The Birds put this one away early. Then, we can rest all of the starters without fear of losing the NFC East’s crown and the top seed during the playoffs.
NFL news: More positive signs come for Damar Hamlin.
We could talk about good news all day! It’s always wonderful when we have opportunities to do so.
Damar Hamlin appears to be on the road to recovery. Every report that we read or saw concerning him on Thursday was positive whether that be news from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport that he opened his eyes on Wednesday to heartwarming updates about his substantial progress.
Here’s something that we’ll remember forever. How about this quote from
"We’re in the situation where we wanted to allow him to gradually wake up as the rest of his body was healing, and last night he was able to emerge and follow commands and even asked who had won the game. When he asked did we win, the answer is yes, Damar, you won the game of life."
In all honesty, there isn’t much else that we need to say after that.
