. Britain Covey, returner. 18. player. 54. .

What’s the OVER/UNDER on Britain Covey housing one for the Eagles during the postseason?

Be honest. Some of you have given up on Britain Covey, haven’t you? Raise your hand if you play as the Eagles on your Madden NFL 23 franchise modes, and you’ve replaced Covey with Boston Scott or Quez Watkins as your punt returner… or if you just cut Covey altogether.

Fielding punts is a lot different in pro football than trying to do so in the Pac-12. We tried to explain that to some of you who were on the bandwagon early. Anyway, we digress. Here’s where we were actually going with this one.

It’s been tough to watch Covery get smacked around every time he fields a punt and takes off with the ball in his hands. Watching rams duel or car accidents would probably be less violent, but Covey has the heart of a lion. He also saw some success once during Week 13’s game versus the Tennessee Titans. He tallied 105 yards on six punt returns and actually looked like an NFL player.

We were going to save this for later, but here’s a bold prediction. Britain Covey will, at some point, field a punt and take it to the house for six. That could be in the Divisional Round. Heck, it could come in the NFC Championship Game or the Super Bowl, but it feels like he’s due for a big moment.

We promise you this. If Number 18 finds a way to get this team an extra six points in the postseason, the Eagles will not lose the game he does it in. Plus, as an added bonus, he’ll be immortalized in those NFL Films pieces about this team forever.
