Watch Nick Sirianni lose his mind on a ref despite being up 28-0 (Video)
By Josh Hill
Nick Sirianni doesn’t care how much the Eagles are up by, a lead is never big enough to let the refs boss him around.
It didn’t take long for the NFC Divisional Round Game between the Eagles and Giants to get late early. Philadelphia jumped out to a four touchdown lead before halftime even arrived, and showed no signs of taking its foot off the gas.
Late in the second quarter, Jalen Hurts scored his first rushing touchdown of the postseason and put to rest any questions about whether or not he was healthy enough to lead the Eagles on Saturday. After that score, the Eagles tried to hard count the Giants on a two-point conversion — which deserves a standing ovation for the gall alone.
Seriously, let’s pause for a moment to appreciate how hardcore Philly that move is, and how utter disrespectful it was.
Somehow, the Eagles trying to that aggressively tell the Giants what they really thought of them was only the second-best thing about the entire sequence.
Head coach Nick Sirianni had raced down the field to be closer to the play and call a timeout so that a delay of game penalty wouldn’t screw up an extra point. Officials apparently took issue with this, even though he was allowed to do it, and Sirianni let them hear it.
“I know what the [expletive] I’m doing,” Sirianni screamed at the referee standing near the endzone. “I’m allowed to be down here.”
Just watch:
Despite being up by four touchdowns in a playoff game against a hated division rial, Nick Sirianni wasn’t about to let the officials get in the way of his fun.
It harkens back to Howie Roseman roasting fans in Houston who tried to rib him over how tumultuous his tenure with the team has been, despite things turning around in a big way over the last few seasons.
It doesn’t get more Philly than that.
