Kalon Barnes has the second-fastest 40-yard dash time in NFL Combine history.

At the 2022 NFL Combine, Kalon Barnes would show the other invitees how to ace the 40-yard dash by running a 4.23-second time. He’s another prep and collegiate track and field star, one who played his NCAA football at Baylor University as a member of the Bears.

He converted from a wide receiver to a cornerback during his freshman season. He became a starter ahead of his sophomore season. He cranked out 59 total tackles, three interceptions, and one forced fumble at the defensive back position.

Barnes’ dreams of reaching the NFL came true as he was drafted by the Carolina Panthers in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL Draft. He was waived by the Panthers in August of that year. One month later, he would earn another opportunity after being signed by the Miami Dolphins to their practice squad.

In December 2022, the Minnesota Vikings would sign him off the Dolphins’ practice squad. Sadly, however, his professional career never got going or gained any traction. In total, he appeared in two games for Minnesota and played nine snaps on the special teams unit.
