The Eagles can find their starter, bring Boston Scott back at a discount, and give the latter MORE touches.

We have never understood the Philadelphia Eagles’ lack of faith in Boston Scott. Sure, they trust him versus the New York Giants, but they refuse to rely on him otherwise with any relative consistency. Perhaps there’s no loyalty because he wasn’t drafted?

On more than one occasion, whenever we’ve seen Scott earn an opportunity, he’s done a phenomenal job with any chance he’s been given. All he does is make plays. All Philly’s coaching staff does is place him back on the bench after he’s done so. It’s baffling in some ways, and it leads to what feels like a silly question. Does someone powerful have some personal vendetta with this guy?

Like Miles Sanders, Boston Scott is set to enter free agency if the Eagles don’t extend him prior to March 15th, which it doesn’t appear that they will. We wouldn’t have an issue with him being brought back at a later date though.

Boston is probably never going to make a Pro Bowl or earn an All-Pro designation, but he’s durable and we trust him. We also believe it’s more feasible to sign him for a less expensive price and continue the theory of allowing both him and Kenneth Gainwell to run wild in an Eagles tailback committee. The large paycheck that would be given to Derrick Henry can be utilized to address some other needs.
