54. . . . Kyron Johnson, LB. 58. player

The Eagles have a lot of bodies at linebacker, but seemingly, it appears that Kyron Johnson and Davion Taylor aren’t among the long-term answers.

It felt like the Eagles had finally gotten serious about making sure their linebackers corps was an acceptable unit. Haason Reddick was a home run. T.J. Edwards was leading the team in tackles. Kyzir White, despite some up-and-down performances, was good enough more often than not.

Then, as the NFL offseason began, Philly lost T.J. and Kyzir. Just like that, two of their top three players at the position were gone.

They still have a ton of bodies at the position, one of which is Kyron Johnson. He’s a draftee from last year. Unfortunately, he wasn’t much of a special teamer, and he was outplayed by an undrafted guy, Christian Elliss.

54. . . . Davion Taylor, LB. 52. player

Here’s a look at Philly’s linebackers: Haason Reddick, Nakobe Dean, Christian Elliss, Nicholas Morrow, Patrick Johnson, Kyron Johnson, Shaun Bradley, and Davion Taylor. It doesn’t look good for the owner of that last name, does it?

Philly had hope for Taylor. They drafted him in the third round of the 2020 NFL Draft. In 2021, he began to earn more playing time in his second season and earned a starting role in Week 6, but he wound up on the injured reserve following a knee injury he sustained in November.

He fell out of favor last year after a horrible preseason. He was released on August 31st and re-signed to the practice squad. Heading into year four, he seems best suited to play the WILL (weakside linebacker role), but he seemingly has Christian Elliss and Shaun Bradley ahead of him.
