The Philadelphia Eagles have had a busy week. That silent NovaCare Complex that we had gotten used to really gave us a lot to talk about. Among other things, we saw introductory press conferences for Nicholas Morrow and Justin Evans. They also hosted former Iowa Hawkeyes star Lukas Van Ness and former Texas Longhorns tailback Bijan Robinson for top-30 pre-draft visits. They even welcomed safety Keanu Neal for a visit.

Then came Friday. They made even more waves, inking Lane Johnson to an extension and immediately using some of the money they saved to help land safety Terrell Edmunds.

Whew! That was a mouthful. We told you this was a busy week, didn’t we?

Here are a few important notes to jot down as the Philadelphia Eagles add Terrell Edmunds to the nest.

In Terrell Edmunds, the Philadelphia Eagles pack a little more punch into what’s quickly becoming an impressive defensive backs room. The six-foot-one, 217-pound former Pittsburgh Steelers DB changes addresses but remains in the Keystone State after inking a one-year deal.

He spoke with members of the media on Friday. He says he’s “bought-in”, and so have we.

Here are a few things to keep in mind.

Terrell Edmunds is a former first-rounder that earned All-ACC honors during his time at Virginia Tech.

35 career games over three seasons at Virginia Tech led to 196 career tackles, 1.5 sacks, six interceptions a forced fumble, and a Third-Team All-ACC nod in 2017 for his troubles. He was drafted 28th overall during Round 1 of the 2018 NFL Draft. As mentioned, his first five seasons were spent with Mike Tomlin and the Steelers.

Here’s a look at his professional stat line so far.

We like nice mixtures of youth and experience, and the Philadelphia Eagles get all of that rolled into one guy with Edmunds’ addition.

He has appeared in 79 regular-season games with 75 starts. He has also started two playoff games.

That’s led to 422 tackles, five sacks, five interceptions, and 27 pass breakups. The best part about all of this is he’s only 26 years old.

Here’s a look at the Eagles’ secondary following Terrell Edmunds’ addition.

The Philadelphia Eagles secondary currently houses 14 defensive backs. Here’s the breakdown.

CORNERBACKS

  • James Bradberry
  • Darius Slay
  • Avonte Maddox
  • Greedy Williams
  • Zech McPhearson
  • Mario Goodrich
  • Josh Jobe
  • Josiah Scott

SAFETIES

  • Terrell Edmunds
  • K’Von Wallace
  • Reed Blankenship
  • Justin Evans
  • Andre Chachere
  • Tristin McCollum (DB – reserve/futures deal)

Typically, with new guys, we like to do some snooping and see what former teammates, fans, and the media have to say. You can’t find a Steelers enthusiast that’s happy about seeing this guy get out of the door.

This is a nice pickup for Philly. Again, he offers veteran leadership and experience while still being young himself. The Greedy Williams was an impressive signing, one we like a lot. We like this one just as much.
