54. . . . Ike Reese. 58. player

Ike Reese, a fifth-round selection, was an impact player on special teams during his time with the Eagles, and he hasn’t strayed too far from the City of Brotherly Love.

Jeremiah Trotter wasn’t the only linebacker taken by the Eagles during the 1998 NFL Draft. In Round 5, they added Ike Reese, and he most certainly earned the love of Birds fans. That hasn’t changed. He’s now a mainstay of Philly’s 94 WIP-FM and a co-host of the station’s Jon Marks and Ike Reese show. They can be heard every day from 2 p.m. EST to 6 p.m. EST.

Reese was a third-day draft choice out of Michigan State University. There, he notched 420 tackles, ten sacks, four forced fumbles, recovered five fumbles, and had three interceptions from 1994 until 1997. He spent seven seasons in an Eagles jersey, primarily in a special teams role, but he notched 280 tackles, 6.5 sacks, seven forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, two interceptions, and 18 pass deflections in 112 regular-season games. He also appeared in nine postseason games between 2000 and 2004.

Following the 2004 season, he was named to Pro Bowl as a special teams player. His postseason stat line is as follows: 12 tackles, one sack, one forced fumble, and one interception. His final two seasons, 2005 and 2006 were spent with the Atlanta Falcons, but he has more than earned his Eagles wings.

Since rocking the midnight green, he has traded shoulder pads for a microphone. He’s traded tackles for verbal jabs, but our love for him has yet to fade.
