Every man need not apply, but there are a lot of options for the Eagles with that pair of first-round draft choices.

Much has changed in 12 months. This time last year, we wanted Jalen Hurts to take the next step. There were questions about how much of a leap he was capable of making though. The Philadelphia Eagles made a few moves, including a colossal trade with the Saints that involved draft capital, one of those picks being New Orleans’ first-round draft choice in 2023. We all had guesses about the thought process.

That trade gave them an insurance policy just in case they didn’t see what they liked. The worst-case scenario was, at minimum, they could put together a draft-day package involving some of that new-found capital they had acquired. That would allow them to select some competition or, dare we say, a replacement for Jalen Hurts had things not worked out.

Thankfully, our prayers were answered. Things worked out better than we expected.

Philly didn’t just get another step from Hurts. They found out they had an MVP-level quarterback. Now, they have the freedom to use a pair of first-round selections to address other needs. The 2023 NFL Draft class is loaded with first-rounders who are destined to be stars. There are also some sub-radar guys that we don’t mention enough.

This is a story about the guys that fall in the latter category. They aren’t dominating the headlines, but you can best believe the Eagles know who they are.
