. . . Tampa Bay Buccaneers. . team. 48

These are not the same the Bucs that the Eagles faced a couple of years ago in the Wild Card Round.

On January 16th of 2022, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were reigning Super Bowl Champions, and the battle-tested red and pewter-clad warriors completely dominated a young Philadelphia Eagles team in the Wild Card Round whose best weapon at the time was their rushing attack.

Much has changed for the Bucs since that game. Todd Bowles is now the head coach. Byron Leftwich is no longer the offensive coordinator. Dave Canales is the man now. Then there’s Tom Brady. He finally called it a career… for now.

Tampa Bay also lost five key defensive players in free agency. Safety Mike Edwards, cornerback Sean Bunting, and Rakeem Nunez-Roches were among those who departed.

This team also had major issues on the offensive line last season. That figures to carry into the coming campaign as they haven’t done much to address the problem in the early stages of the current offseason.

The Bucs still have Mike Evans. Chris Godwin, and Russell Gage as wide receivers. Brady won’t be throwing them the ball this year. Baker Mayfield and Kyle Trask are competing for the opportunity to lead the offense this year, and even though we saw TB12 deteriorate last season, both of these guys have to be seen as downgrades at the position. Neither man is going to put a lot of fear into the hearts of opposing defenses or their coordinators.
