3. Philly trades down from ten with the expectation that they can get the player they want later and that player is taken by another team.

Trading back isn’t a foregone conclusion. You have to find a willing dance partner, but with a top-ten draft choice, the chances of doing so are higher.

If trading back from ten (or the 30th-overall selection) is in play, we can only think of one circumstance that would give the Eagles the confidence to do so this early.

They’d have to believe, by moving, they’d still be able to land someone they were interested in taking at the original position. As far as potential trade partners go, a team like the Patriots makes some sense.

Yes, we have thought about this a lot. Here’s a realistic scenario.

Maybe New England, at 14, is trying to get ahead of the Titans for fear that Tennessee might grab a quarterback or another player that they want for themselves. Maybe Bill Belichick gives Howie Roseman a call to see what the Birds are looking for.

While this might never happen, these are exactly the types of conversations that happen during drafts, but here’s the thing.

On Philly’s side, the move could be a gamble. Sure, the reward might outweigh the risk; however, the whole thing falls apart if the player the Birds desire lands in some other city. Speaking of which, there’s a nightmare scenario that we have been hearing lately.
