Jared Verse and Jer’Zhan Newton are two of the more talented options the Eagles will have at edge rusher.

Brandon Graham has been a wonderful Eagle, but he’s on the downside of what turned out to be a great career in Philly. Some hoped Derek Barnett would follow in his footsteps as a great edge rusher who bloomed late, but so far that has materialized into nothing more than a dream.

Josh Sweat is someone the Eagles can hang their hat on. Philly once found him in Round 4. Jared Verse won’t be available if Philly waits that late to draft an edge rusher. He’s someone who will turn heads if hasn’t turned them already.

We’re on board. He’s six-foot-four. He tips the scales at 248 pounds, and now that we think about it, the last time the Eagles took an edge rusher from Florida State (Sweat), everything turned out nicely.

Guess what? We were watching some of Sydney Brown’s games at Illinois, and we kind of stumbled on this Jer’Zhan Newton fella. Then, we did some digging on the latter.

We found out he has appeared in 32 games, and he has collected 134 tackles and 10.5 sacks. If you have some time, check out some of Sydney Brown’s highlights, but you wouldn’t be wasting your time if you watched some of what Newton was doing too.
