The first day of the Philadelphia Eagles and New England Patriots joint practice is in the books, and it was a win for the Patriots.
One good thing about the Eagles was that the offense had an easy time running the ball, even though they threw an average day. Defensively, they were able to get good pressure up front, but their former wide receiver, A.J. Brown, had quite the day against his old team.
When all was said and done from the practice, who came out as the biggest winners and losers from the Eagles' first joint practice with the Patriots? Here's a full list of the winners and losers on Philly's side.
Winners and losers from Eagles-Patriots' first day of joint practice
Winner: Jalyx Hunt, EDGE
Hunt is just doing Hunt things at this point, as he got a sack in practice and could get pressure. Eagles reporter Ryan Fowler got a text from a Patriots source saying, "58 is a problem." After the Jonathan Greenard update, that doesn't sound good. Hunt will have to step up, and he has lived up to the hype during training camp.
Loser: Riq Woolen, CB
No one had a rougher day at the joint practice than Woolen did. He reportedly got burned on multiple plays, and they were against A.J. Brown. Not a great look for a corner who showed so much promise at OTAs and now seems to be trending in the wrong direction.
Winner: Hollywood Brown, WR
Finally! Things seem to be going in the right direction for Brown, as he is having the best week of practice since joining the Eagles. All indications are that he was one of Jalen Hurts' most reliable receivers and is building chemistry with him. This practice was important for Brown, as his momentum continues to build.
Loser: Dontayvion Wicks, WR
It didn't exactly sound like a great day of practice for Wicks, as he had a pass go his way that he tipped and got picked off. He also got hurt in practice but would return to finish. A rare miss of a day for Wicks after what has been a very good camp for the now projected WR2.
Winner: Will Shipley, RB
Not sure how many people had Shipley on their bingo cards for a great day at joint practice, but some argued he had the best practice ever as an Eagle. He broke off a couple of big runs and got some big plays in the passing game. It seems like it's finally all coming together for him at training camp and putting the RB3 position battle to rest.
Loser: Makai Lemon, WR
Here are Eagles fans getting excited that Lemon is limited in practice, but still working on another field and not with his teammates. All this valuable time missed is making it clearer and clearer that he won't be 100% ready for the regular season. This is becoming a concern for the Eagles and a bit of a disappointment, with their top two draft picks having a rough start to training camp.

Winner: Jalen Hurts, QB
That's right, the guy who threw three interceptions is a winner. He didn't have two of his top receivers, and two of his three interceptions were tipped passes that weren't on him. No, it was not a perfect day of practice for Hurts, but with what he has working with him right now, he is battling through and still had a decent day. We don't care what the stats say, as he did a good job against a very good Patriots defense.
