The Philadelphia Eagles fan base has waited for the last few weeks to hear when rookie first-round pick Makai Lemon was going to play.

Lemon has spent most of training camp off the field after dealing with a hamstring injury. This has led many to question the young rookie and the impact he can make in Year 1.

Well, the Eagles finally gave some good news about Lemon in training camp, as he was upgraded to limited status in practice for the first of two joint practices. The odd thing, though, is Lemon wasn't seen at practice.

Eagles fans trying to understand Makai Lemon update

On one hand, the good is that Lemon appears to be trending in the right direction. He has been doing more off-field work to prepare to return to the field.

The problem is that He's still not practicing and wasn't even on the field. That leaves way more confusion about why he is being upgraded to limited when he isn't even on the field.

One could hope he will be on the field later in the practice or back for the second day of the joint practice. Either way, Eagles fans really need to start seeing something out of Lemon.

The expectations have been high for him since he joined the team as a first-round pick. He showed in OTAs that he is quick on his feet and a great route runner.

Unfortunately, injuries seem to be a problem for him. Lemon has missed time in OTAs and training camp due to injuries. Maybe it's too soon to call them red flags, but that seems like one.

Philly has worked through it, though, with guys like Dontayvion Wicks, Darius Cooper, and Elijah Moore stepping up in his place. That's good for the Eagles' offense, but not so much for Lemon.

The Eagles need Lemon on the field, or his playing time could suffer. There's already a good chance someone like Cooper moves into the starting lineup in Lemon's place early in the season.

Eagles fans are trying not to use the word "bust" with Lemon yet, as it's too early to go there. If he doesn't get himself on the field soon enough, though, a conversation might have to be had about it. It sounds like Lemon is pretty good at practicing again, though, so let's take it as good news.
