The Philadelphia Eagles are officially in game week for their season-opening game against the Washington Commanders, but it could be the last for several players.
While the Eagles are known for adding players on one-year deals, their homegrown talent also stays on the team for a long time. At some point, though, there are players who have to leave for several reasons.
Five players on the Eagles are most likely to be on the 53-man roster for the final team after the 2026 season concludes. These players have played for the Eagles at least since last year and have expiring contracts.
Which Eagles are in trouble of not playing on the team after 2026?
Dallas Goedert, TE
Goedert has been on this list for the last few years, but it's getting closer to a reality. He signed a one-year deal to stay with the Eagles and remain their starting tight end, while the team develops rookie Eli Stowers to be their future starter in 2027 and beyond. At some point, if Goedert has another outstanding season, he will go somewhere else to get more money than the Eagles are willing to pay.
Michael Carter II, DB
Carter had a great training camp, but he is looking at being a backup on the Eagles to start the year with a chance to rotate in. If he ends up playing well this season, he might get priced out of the Eagles' range to pay for a safety. Regardless, the Eagles will likely be adding a younger safety in the NFL Draft next offseason to work with Andrew Mukuba for a long time.
Marcus Epps, S
Epps is in a similar situation to Carter, but with a slight difference. The big thing with Epps is that he is getting older and starting to regress, so the Eagles would want to add a young safety to replace him as one of the starting safeties. Maybe if Epps accepted a cheap contract, he might come back, but most likely, he would be gunning for another starting job as a bridge safety for a younger player elsewhere.
Kelee Ringo, CB
Ringo has struggled in coverage each season, and now that he is entering the final year of his contract, this could be the end for him. While he has performed well on special teams, the Eagles need more out of the cornerback position. The Eagles could either trade Ringo at some point in 2026 or just let him walk at the end of the season.

Moro Ojomo, DT
Ojomo will be too expensive for the Eagles to keep since he is about to land a $20 million to $25 million per year contract next offseason. His play over the last two years has put him on the map, much like Milton Williams. As much as Philly would love to keep Ojomo on the roster, they have bigger priorities when it comes to paying players.
