Philadelphia Eagles fans are still trying to process the Jalen Carter news in the best possible way.
ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter first reported that Carter and the Eagles agreed to a four-year, $152 million contract with a chance to reach $160 million. Carter is getting $106 million guaranteed, with the $38 million-per-year value being the highest for a defensive tackle in NFL history.

The move solidifies the Eagles' future on the defensive line after getting Carter and Jordan Davis on record-breaking contract extensions. One other star defensive lineman has not gotten a new deal, and if Eagles fans are being honest, it isn't going to happen.
Moro Ojomo is on his way off the Eagles roster after the 2026 season
Ojomo was just a seventh-round pick in 2023 who was trying to fight for a roster spot. All of a sudden, though, he became a rising star on the team.
Over the last two years, Ojomo has seen his playing time increase, with last season having him start nine games and perform well. He finished the 2025 campaign with 38 tackles, 12 quarterback hits, six tackles for loss, six sacks, and one pass deflection in 17 games. Pro Football Focus gave him an overall grade of 72.9, ranking 19th out of 134 eligible interior defensive linemen.
The dream scenario for the Eagles would be to get Ojomo on a long-term contract extension as well, for about $20 million to $25 million per season. In reality, that isn't going to happen.
Eagles general manager Howie Roseman also has a ton of tough decisions to make with Quinyon Mitchell, Cooper DeJean, Nolan Smith Jr., and Jalyx Hunt on contract extensions. There is no scenario where it would make sense to give Ojomo the money and lose everyone else.
Mitchell might be the only lock for the next massive contract extension. The rest, though, are not in a great position, including Ojomo.
This scenario should have been expected by everyone, though, as Ojomo was anticipating it himself. That is why he hired a new agent in the offseason to help him get ready for the 2027 offseason. He's in the final year of his rookie contract with the Eagles, making him a free agent next year.

Don't be surprised if Ojomo gets Milton Williams-type money in free agency. It will be tough for Eagles fans to see Ojomo walk next offseason, but Carter is the more important player to keep.
