There was a glimmer of hope for the Philadelphia Eagles when they were within one possession in the fourth quarter, but they couldn't finish the job, falling to the Carolina Panthers 25-14 in Week 6.
Philly's offense again couldn't get close to 300 yards, managing just enough to put up 222 and lose. The Eagles' defense allowed 399 yards, as the team suffered their fourth straight loss of the season, dropping to 2-4.
In an uneventful game, here are some quick thoughts on the Eagles after another loss. Here are some initial takeaways from the loss.
Initial reactions to Eagles' Week 6 game against the Panthers
More injuries for the Eagles....love to see it (said sarcasticly)
Well, the Eagles took more injuries in this game, as is becoming the norm. Carson Steele was knocked out of the game, leaving the Eagles with only Dameon Pierce and Jaydon Blue, but Pierce got all the carries. Nolan Smith Jr. also got hurt and left the game early, leaving Philly with only three edge rushers.
That wasn't it for the Eagles, though, as two receivers got hurt in the fourth quarter. DeVonta Smith was slow to get up but returned. Dontayvion Wicks also got hurt and left the game, but returned.
To top it off, Braden Mann got hurt on a tipped fourth quarter punt. Oh, and Jordan Davis also got hurt with an ankle injury and was ruled out of the game. This team can't stay healthy.
Tanner McKee got rocked throughout the game
The Eagles' offensive line couldn't handle the Panthers' blitz all game. McKee was hit 11 times and sacked three times. It's hard for the offense to be successful when they can't even get the pass off on time.
Tanner McKee wasn't perfect, but he held his own the best he could
Under the huge amount of pressure the Panthers brought, McKee didn't have the worst game, but there were some struggles. He finished 26-of-45 for 215 yards and one touchdown. The Eagles need improvement from McKee, but under the circumstances, he did what he could.
Philly's defense did the best they could in the game
To the defense's credit, they held their own, but ultimately the offense punted too much for any consistent success. Bryce Young completed 50% of his passes and was sacked only twice, but the defense couldn't force turnovers. With the offense finishing under 250 yards, the defense couldn't get it done at the end.
Here we are again with another second half disappearing act for the Eagles' offense
At least the Eagles scored a fourth-quarter touchdown, so that's an improvement, right? Otherwise, this offense is just a mess without so many weapons and their star quarterback, Jalen Hurts, out there. There are no clear answers for how this team can fix things.
There's no way Nick Sirianni and Sean Mannion are not on the hot seat after this game

Poor Vic Fangio is doing everything he can to help this Eagles team, but the offense isn't doing anything. That directly falls on Sirianni and Mannion, who were supposed to bring change to the unit. Yes, the injuries are there, but still, this offense has to play better and find ways to be innovative and creative. Instead, it was a bunch of running back swing passes and short passes. That's not going to get it done for Philly, so yeah, they should be on the hot seat big time.
