The Philadelphia Eagles were involved in a ton of trade rumors about Maxx Crosby before he was traded to the Baltimore Ravens.
As part of those Crosby rumors, there was a lot of noise about Eagles defensive tackle Jalen Carter being part of a deal. ESPN NFL reporter Jeremy Fowler shared that the Eagles were not big players in the Crosby sweepstakes, but did mention that after Jordan Davis landed his massive contract extension, Carter could be looking at two options with the Eagles.
"With defensive tackle Jordan Davis now extended, Philly also must weigh whether to extend Jalen Carter, who is eligible for a new deal. I'm told Philly has received trade calls on Carter."
Jalen Carter could be extended or traded from the Eagles
Last season was a wild one for Carter, as he recorded 33 tackles, 12 quarterback hits, seven pass deflections, five tackles for loss, and three sacks in 11 games. What stood out the most, though, were the injuries that he suffered throughout the year and the spitting incident from Week 1 against the Dallas Cowboys.
That incident had reportedly upset many within the organization, as it was a bad look for them and for Carter. Now the Eagles could be facing a wild situation in which they end up trading away a guy who has been to the Pro Bowl twice in the last three years.
One of the rumors surrounding a Carter trade is the Jacksonville Jaguars' call about him. Many would have to think that a first-round pick would have to be the offer to get Carter, since he's considered one of the top five defensive tackles in the NFL.
Another option is to give him a contract extension that should pay him north of $30 million per year. He also has the fifth-year option open for the Eagles to pick up, which would pay Carter $27.1 million, the second-highest among the 2023 NFL Draft class.

The possibilities are endless for what the Eagles could do with Carter, but they have to act quickly with free agency around the corner. What a stunner it would be to see Carter traded after all the talks about him landing a historic contract with the Eagles just one year ago.
