Philadelphia Eagles fans are currently focused solely on the offensive coordinator search, but something else might be happening behind the scenes.
Everyone is hoping that the Eagles will name a new offensive coordinator in the next week. After that, there are multiple storylines that need endings from the team to be figured out throughout the offseason.
ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter was being interviewed on 97.5 The Fanatic in Philadelphia, discussing the coaching search. At the end of the interview, when the hosts thanked Schefter and said they'd have him back next week to talk about a potential hire, the insider left with this simple comment.
"And maybe they'll be even more than that by next week."
Adam Schefter just left a massive hint for Eagles fans
It's certainly an interesting comment to make that will make Eagles fans wonder what is going on with the team. Obviously, no trades can happen right now, but what does it mean for the other big storylines in Philly?
The number one thought is someone might be retiring from football. Everyone's first thoughts would go to right tackle Lane Johnson and his foot injury leaving his future up for grabs. If Johnson's foot is not the same and he doesn't feel like he can be the same guy, it might leave the Eagles to think that he could move on from football.
Another retirement thought is someone from the coaching staff. Would it be someone like defensive coordinator Vic Fangio or offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland?
This is all speculation, of course, and nothing has been directly reported, but Schefter left that interview in the worst way, so now Eagles fans are wondering all the possibilities it could be. The hope is that it is good news and not something that will damage the franchise's future.
