This offseason has been dominated by the uncertainty over when the Philadelphia Eagles will trade A.J. Brown, or if they even will.
A divorce seems to be lingering for the Eagles, but they also don't seem to be in too much of a rush to make it happen. ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter made his weekly appearance on 97.5 The Fanatic, where he discussed when he thinks Brown will be traded from the Eagles.
"The Eagles are scheduled to have 11 or 12 picks in this year’s NFL Draft. I don’t think there are 11 or 12 draft picks that can make the Eagles roster. I don’t think picks in this draft matter all that much to them [in a potential A.J. Brown deal]. Of course, picks in every draft matter, but I think if they had their choice it would be picks in 2027 and 2028; that matter more. They already have ample picks in the upcoming draft. I don’t think they need more picks in 2026 they would probably like to spread it out; and this is not supposed to be a great draft. The 2027 draft is supposed to be a strong draft, to me I’d want as much draft pick ammo in 2027 and maybe 2028 more so than 2026”.

There are multiple reasons why trading Brown after the draft makes more sense, but the future picks are a good reason for them to do it. They already have so many picks to work with, and Eagles general manager Howie Roseman loves to stockpile all the picks he can get to use them as draft day trades.
The financial part of a trade is so important, too, as Eagles fans know too well about the dead cap. It will be cut in half from the $40 million they face if they wait until after June 1. They can also save $7 million against the cap by waiting it out.

Roseman is all good about playing the waiting game to get the picks he feels he deserves for Brown after the recent trades with DJ Moore and Jaylen Waddle. The Eagles will continue trying to get their first- and second-round picks, but waiting until June 1 will most likely be the move unless a better deal comes along before then.
