With the new league year officially starting, it marks the end of what could be the potential trade talks between the Philadelphia Eagles and other teams trying to acquire star receiver A.J. Brown.
While there have been teams like the Los Angeles Chargers, Los Angeles Rams, and Baltimore Ravens making calls about Brown, the New England Patriots have appeared to be the favorites to land Brown. Unfortunately for Brown, Eagles general manager Howie Roseman is not budging on his reported price tag of a first and second round pick.
ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter gave an update on how it is going with the Eagles and trading away Brown. Schefter is making it seem like there is no rush in getting this done now.
“They would rather not move him, even though he would like to be moved," Schefter said via NBC Sports Philadelphia's John Clark. "And they are not going to move him until they get what they feel is a fair price.”
Chances of A.J. Brown being traded from the Eagles are dropping
The only reason the Eagles were looking to potentially trade Brown sooner was to learn what the salary cap situation would be. Trading Brown before June 1 would cause the team to lose $20 million against the cap for 2026, so it doesn't even logically make sense for the Eagles to trade him at this time.
After losing out on their own top free agents like Jaelan Phillips, Reed Blankenship, and Nakobe Dean, the Eagles really don't have to spend too much more money and don't have to worry about saving that money anymore. Keeping Brown actually makes more sense now that they need to keep all the talent they can and basically build the roster through the draft.

There are Eagles fans who don't want Brown to be traded, and they seem to be getting their wish for the moment. While the trade talks are going to continue to be discussed every day, no one should hold their breath that the three-time Pro Bowler will be moved anytime soon.
