There's going to be plenty of deals that'll need to be made in the offseason for the Philadelphia Eagles, but they might have more interest in teams wanting their backup quarterback, Tanner McKee.
While McKee has only made two career starts, he has done enough that teams will be calling this offseason to bring him in as competition for their starting job. NFL.com's Dan Parr shared his takeaways from draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah's latest mock draft, where Parr shared what Jeremiah said about the New York Jets potentially needing to call the Eagles about McKee.
"Jeremiah said the Jets should be kicking the tires on a couple veteran backups to gauge their availability on the trade market: the Eagles' Tanner McKee and the Texans' Davis Mills.
'Those are a couple guys I'd be curious about taking a flyer on for a year if you can trade a mid-round pick," he said. "I don't think I would lean in the direction of the draft for their quarterback this year. I think they will be all in for that next year.'"
Should the Eagles take the Jets' call about Tanner McKee?
There isn't a ton of tape on McKee, but when he has stepped on the field, he's been pretty good for the Eagles. He has completed 61.4% of his passes for 597 yards and five touchdowns to one interception.
McKee's 2024 start against the New York Giants, when he threw two touchdowns and zero interceptions in the win, started to put him on the map. His last start in Week 18 against the Washington Commanders last year didn't necessarily hurt him, but it didn't help him either, as he completed 52.5% of his passes for 241 yards and one touchdown to one interception in the loss.
Still, there's going to be interest in McKee again this offseason, and he should have a few teams calling for his services as a backup or competing for a starting job. The question is what kind of compensation the Eagles can get for him.
Most likely, McKee could at best command a 2026 third-round pick and at the lowest a 2026 fourth-round pick with another pick involved. Anything lower than that and Eagles general manager Howie Roseman should hand up the phone.

The Jets' Day 2 and 3 picks are intriguing since they are picking so high after their struggles last year. Roseman should talk to them and see what the Eagles can get for McKee and use that pick to replace him with a young quarterback to develop.
