A.J. Brown's handwritten message to Eagles will infuriate fans (but he's right)

Did you really have to say that?

It just wouldn't be an A.J. Brown story without Philadelphia Eagles fans expecting some kind of message to come with it.

Last season, instead of catching more passes, Brown sent cryptic messages and complained to the media about the Eagles' offense, leading the franchise to grant his wish and trade him to the New England Patriots last week. Brown wasn't done with the messages; as before, he officially left the Eagles' facilities last week, and NFL insider Mike Garafolo reported that Brown signed his name on his Pro Bowl picture with his final eight words to the team.

"The best to ever play here. Always open."

A.J. Brown just had to leave the Eagles with one more message

The annoying part is that, while Eagles fans won't love the message he left, he's not completely wrong. He is arguably the best wide receiver to ever wear an Eagles uniform, maybe outside of Terrell Owens.

Brown produced over 5,000 yards receiving for the Eagles in the four seasons he was with the team. He also had two Pro Bowl appearances and was a three-time second-team All-Pro selection, helping the Eagles make two Super Bowls and win one.

His impact on the team can't be ignored, as Brown was truly great at everything he did as an Eagle. Last year was a disaster for everyone, but he was still playing good football, even if it was a regression from his standards.

The Eagles fan base is probably happy to have moved on from Brown, as they can focus on DeVonta Smith being the number one receiver on the team. As for Brown, he can take his ego to New England and hope that Drake Maye gets him the football more than Jalen Hurts did.

Brown didn't have to depart the team like that, but greatness can't be argued as he was truly one of the best to do it in Philly.
