The turnover of the Philadelphia Eagles coaching staff has been felt during the offseason as another defensive assistant is out the door for a better job.
Philly's first loss was defensive backs coach and pass game coordinator Christian Parker, who took the Dallas Cowboys' defensive coordinator job. CBS Sports reporter Matt Zenitz is now reporting that Eagles defensive assistant Tyler Yelk is leaving the team to take the safeties coach job at Nebraska.
Yelk had been with the Eagles over the last three seasons, serving as the assistant to the head coach for the first two seasons before spending last season as a defensive assistant. Before Philly, Yelk was a college safeties coach at Idaho, Temple, and Northern Illinois, and was once a co-defensive coordinator at South Dakota.
Tyler Yelk is the latest Eagles coach to depart
It's not clear who else might leave, as the Eagles are hoping not many will leave the defensive staff, given the work ahead with the offense. Philly may not have many leftovers on the offensive side of the ball, but the hope is that most of the defensive staff will stick around.
The Eagles had a scare with defensive coordinator Vic Fangio, who was planning to retire, but the team convinced him to stay for another season. After the loss of Parker and a change at offensive coordinator with Sean Mannion joining the team, it made it imperative that the defense have some stability on that side.

Philly is solely focused on making sure they have the right coaches in place on offense, having made some hires on that side of the ball. As long as no one else on the defensive staff leaves, the Eagles should be in a good position for 2026.
