It's a tale as old as time: The Philadelphia Eagles getting a withdrawal from consideration for the offensive coordinator role.
The Athletic's Dianna Russini reported that the Eagles interviewed LSU offensive coordinator Charlie Weis Jr. for the same role. Weis has since told the team that he will be staying with the Tigers and their head coach, Lane Kiffin.
When the first news came out about the Eagles' offensive coordinator job, Weis got a lot of attention for potentially being a candidate. There was a connection there as Weis coached Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts when the two were together at Alabama.
Charlie Weis Jr. says no thanks to Eagles for OC job
This one always seemed like a stretch since Weis doesn't have much NFL experience. His father, Charlie Weis Sr., was a great assistant coach in the NFL, best known for his time with the New England Patriots.
Compared to the other candidates for the offensive coordinator job, this is not as big a deal as a loss. The Eagles would probably prefer a coach with more pro experience, but they have made sure to cast a wide net for candidates.
Philly still has some good candidates for the offensive coordinator job, including Declan Doyle, Jim Bob Cooter, Mike Kafka, and Brian Daboll, who make more sense than Weis. Daboll is obviously the number one name on the list and the one every Eagles fan wants for the job because of his connection with Hurts and Saquon Barkley.

The hope is that the Eagles will have more head coach jobs secured, so they can get a better idea of who will get the job. Philly is being patient, but they might need to move a bit quicker by the end of the week if they don't want to lose out on all the good candidates.
