The pressure is on for Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts to perform well in 2026, but it may not be the smoothest process with so much that has changed.

For the seventh straight year in the NFL, Hurts will have a new offensive coordinator in Sean Mannion and nearly a complete overhaul of the wide receiver room, with A.J. Brown about to be traded and four new additions. Bleacher Report writer Brad Gagnon contributes all of this to be Hurts' biggest obstacle entering the 2026 season.

"Sean Mannion, 34, takes over as Hurts' fifth offensive coordinator in a five-year span, all while he'll likely have to adjust to life without top receiver A.J. Brown. It's not ideal considering that the 27-year-old's rate-based numbers already dropped off in 2025."

Jalen Hurts has his fill of challenges he is facing in 2026

The good news for Hurts is that he at least has DeVonta Smith at wide receiver. Where Hurts will have challenges is building rapport with the new guys in Marquise "Hollywood" Brown, rookie Makai Lemon, Dontayvion Wicks, and Elijah Moore.

So far, Hurts has seemed open and even to be enjoying working with Mannion and his offensive scheme. The two have been working closely together to get on the same page and get off to a fast start.

One problem that Hurts has faced over the years is that, as was mentioned earlier, he has dealt with new play callers every year in the NFL. This has hindered his development and prevented continuity within one offensive system.

There is a new level of heat on Hurts in 2026 as he has to get his performance back on track and the Eagles' offense to perform well. He has to hope that Mannion and the new wide receivers don't get in his way, as his job is potentially on the line.
