CBS Sports confirms Howie Roseman didn't strike gold with Eagles' 2025 draft class

While it might be too early to say what the final verdict is, the Philadelphia Eagles' 2025 draft class wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either compared to general manager Howie Roseman's previous groups.

This past season saw good performances from first-round pick Jihaad Campbell and second-round pick Andrew Mukuba, but that's about it. CBS Sports writer Josh Edwards agreed with that assessment, giving the Eagles a B- and ranking them 16th out of 32 draft classes from 2025.

"Campbell made some turnover-worthy plays, but the down-to-down consistency is not there yet. Philadelphia did not need him immediately with Zack Baun and Nakobe Dean playing a large percentage of the team's linebacker snaps. Mukuba is the only other rookie who played extensively for the franchise. Although, it is fair to assume defensive tackle Ty Robinson's role will expand in the future."

Eagles got a very average draft class in 2025

It's easy to say Campbell was the standout of the group as he was fourth on the team in tackles with 80 while adding three pass deflections, two tackles for loss, one interception, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery. If Dean didn't come back from his injury the way he did, Campbell might have been in the running for Defensive Rookie of the Year in the NFL; he was pacing to do so well.

Mukuba struggled with coverage but improved as the season went on, before a broken ankle ended his 2025 season against the Dallas Cowboys in November. He finished the year with 46 tackles, three pass deflections, two tackles for loss, two interceptions, and a half sack.

If the Eagles decide not to bring back Brandon Graham, that could open the door for Robinson to get more playing time in 2026. Watch for Eagles fifth-round pick Smael Mondon Jr. to potentially get on the field more often next season, depending on what happens with Dean in free agency.

It certainly wasn't a memorable draft class like the 2024 one with Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean, but the Eagles have some young pieces there who could be role players on this team and will need them for the future.
