The Nick Sirianni hate tour continues among the media, as Philadelphia Eagles fans try to understand where all of this is coming from.
This time, it comes from the always-controversial FOX Sports host Colin Cowherd, who shared his thoughts after his network released a list of the 10 NFL coaches in the hottest seats, with Sirianni ranking second. Cowherd gave some wild takes, saying that looking at wins and losses isn't always the right way to judge a coach, and also questioned what would happen if Sirianni lost his job with the Eagles.
"(Nick) Sirianni's got a trophy. If he lost his job, who's interviewing him? Seriously who's hiring him?"
Colin Cowherd gives wild take on Nick Sirianni
First off, saying a coach shouldn't be judged by their win-loss record makes absolutely no sense. Every head coach is judged on how good they are based on wins and losses. If we did that, should we credit former Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett as a good coach, given that he went 8-8 every other year?
This is part of the problem with what's going on today, as Sirianni isn't liked because of his personality, so everyone wants to ignore all the good he has done. The Eagles' head coach has never had a losing season, has gone 59-26 in the regular season, has won 69.4% of his games, has been to two Super Bowls, and has won one. What more does he have to do?
It's the same situation as former New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick not being inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Nobody liked Belichick personally, so they left him off as a first-time Hall of Famer. As awful as it might seem for Eagles fans because of what he has done to the franchise in the past, Belichick should have been a first ballot Hall of Famer.
Sirianni is getting the same treatment because people don't like his personality. All of a sudden, he's not going to land another job? It seems insane that no team in the NFL is going to bring in a head coach who has been a winner since Day 1.

Can Sirianni be as frustrating as a head coach with some of his decisions during games and hiring coaches? Yes, absolutely, but there have been plenty of head coaches who have made multiple mistakes on the job. Sirianni shouldn't be punished for that. He's a great head coach, and people need to set aside their personal feelings about it and accept it.
