The Philadelphia Eagles are going to have a massive advantage over the San Francisco 49ers for one reason only: the home crowd.
It has been talked about at length this season, from Maxx Crosby to George Kittle, about how the fans are and what it is like to play on the road in Lincoln Financial Field in front of the most passionate fan base in football. Asking a visiting team to pick up a win there is never an easy task, even sometimes for the Eagles, depending on how they play.
Eagles cornerback Cooper DeJean was asked about playing at home for the playoff game. DeJean actually had a hard time talking about how different it is to play in Philly compared to other NFL cities.
“It’s a different type of energy," DeJean said via NBC Philly's John Clark. "It feels like there’s more people in the stadium, but obviously there’s not. It’s one of the best atmospheres I’ve played in since I started playing football.”
Eagles' home field advantage is key for playoff win over 49ers
There are technical aspects of the game that give the Eagles an advantage over what is happening on the field. The injury part could arguably be the biggest, as the 49ers are completely banged up going into the contest with multiple linebackers out and offensive tackle Trent Williams not playing in the game.
While those are important, the Eagles have been stellar at home in the postseason under Nick Sirianni as head coach. The Eagles are undefeated at home in the playoffs with Sirianni, going 5-0 in that span.
Adding to that, the Eagles are 7-1 in their last eight home playoff games. The only playoff loss in Philly during that span was the 2019 Wild Card loss to the Seattle Seahawks, where Carson Wentz got hurt early, and Josh McCown put up a gutsy performance but fell short, 17-9.

Everyone is ready to write off the Eagles from winning this game because of how inconsistent the offense has looked, but when Philly hosts a playoff game, good luck winning it for the road team.
