Dallas Goedert is going to make life complicated for the Eagles front office this season, and maybe they're okay with that.

During the Eagles' 29-18 playoff clinching victory over the Washington Commanders in Week 16, Goedert put together quite the performance. He had a three-reception, 32-yard receiving performance and a touchdown that put his name in the franchise's record books.

Goedert's 10th receiving touchdown is now a career high that ties Pete Retzlaff for the most receiving touchdowns in a season by an Eagles tight end. Retzlaff spent 11 seasons with the team (1956-1966), setting the record in 1965.

The Eagles have seen a massive change in Goedert's game in 2025

Goedert, who is now in his age-30 season, is in a contract year that has been the subject of much discussion about his future with the team. A member of the organization since 2018, Goedert was drafted in the second round and assisted with the transition from Zach Ertz to him in 2021.

This season, Goedert has not only set a career-high in touchdown receptions but is also on pace to eclipse his career-high in receptions. Goedert's 57 receptions, 583 receiving yards, and 10 touchdowns have propelled him into top 10 status for tight ends and could be on his way to his first Pro Bowl honor this season.

Goedert's play echoes and magnifies the consistent tight end development in Philadelphia going back to the Andy Reid era. From Chad Lewis to L.J. Smith, to Brent Celek, to Ertz, and now Goedert, the tight end room in Philadelphia has always been one of the organization's strengths.

Regarding Goedert's status going forward, that remains to be seen. It doesn't appear that Philadelphia has his successor on the roster and will most likely address the position in the draft.

Goedert may only be around for another season or two. Still, he's put the Eagles' front office in a position to reward him for his consistent, efficient 2025 season.
