Everyone has talked about how dominant that 2024 Philadelphia Eagles Super Bowl champion team was, so it's weird when someone comes out publicly and says otherwise.
Former Kansas City Chiefs defensive end and now Washington Commanders defender Charles Omenihu went on the "Speakeasy" show as he responded to a question from Emmanuel Acho talking about the Super Bowl in 2024 when the Eagles blew out the Chiefs 40-22. Omenihu actually said that the 2023 San Francisco 49ers team the Chiefs beat was better than the 2024 Eagles.
Well, former Eagles legend Darius Slay got wind of those comments quickly and was not a fan. Slay took to X, reposted the clip, and fired right back at Omenihu.
"Yea buddy tripping😂😂 yall ain’t stand a chance! How u go talk like that and we took the starters out 😂. Could’ve put 50 on them boys frfr."
Darius Slay spoke a lot of truth with his comment
At one point in that Super Bowl, the Eagles were up 40-6 over the Chiefs about midway through the fourth quarter, and head coach Nick Sirianni decided to bench the starters the rest of the contest. That's the only reason why the Chiefs were able to get two late touchdowns before the clock struck zero.
That Eagles defense was dominant in that game, as they sacked Patrick Mahomes six times, picked him off three times, and forced a fumble. Not to mention, Kansas City only had 49 total yards rushing for the game.
It's straight-up disrespectful to say that a team that beat their Super Bowl opponents by 18 points is not as good as the team that lost the Super Bowl the previous year. While the 49ers won their three playoff games in 2023 by three points each, the Eagles were outscoring their opponents 145-77 in four playoff games.

Omenihu can live in his fantasy world all he wants, but the 2024 Eagles were better than the 2023 49ers, and he doesn't need justification to know that no one outside of him would agree.
