There's a lot being made about Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts and his next chapter with offensive coordinator Sean Mannion, but no one can question the franchise signal-caller being ready for the challenge.

Hurts has had seven different play callers since joining the NFL in 2020, with Shane Steichen as the only offensive coordinator he's had for more than one year, and he lasted two years before taking the Indianapolis Colts head coach job. Former Eagles cornerback Darius Slay appeared on ESPN's NFL Live, as he gave some insights into Hurts and having to deal with a new offense.

"One thing I know about Hurts, he's been having different coordinators for his whole career. So he's very good at adjusting. But one thing, Hurts, he gonna find a way to make him comfortable. So with him being under center, it'll be, I think, will be a new test for him. You know, turning his back to the defense and seeing a different picture from when he's seen it from under the center to when he turn his back to now. So it's going be a good challenge for him. And one thing about Hurts, he loves a challenge, and he likes to see those challenges. So I'm looking forward to the season. I'm rooting for my guys to do their thing. I need them to go ahead and win the NFC East."

Jalen Hurts is ready to run this new offense in 2026

It's very early on, but so far, things have not gone completely according to plan with Hurts and this new-look offense. All reports from OTAs noted that the offense's performance in those three weeks was inconsistent, with Hurts still adjusting to things.

This is a big season for Hurts, as he has more pressure on him than ever to perform well. Many were disappointed with how he played in 2025, and there are indications that the Eagles might not 100% believe in him being the long-term quarterback beyond the 2026 season. It doesn't help that the offseason reports said Hurts was not coachable and that he changed the plays in the huddle, leading many national analysts to trash him as a passer.

Hurts has gone through this throughout his career, with people doubting him and not believing he has the skill set to be a starting quarterback. All he has shown fans is three Pro Bowl selections, winning 68% of his regular season starts, two Super Bowl appearances, one Super Bowl win, and one Super Bowl MVP.

Everyone in Philly knows that Hurts plays his best football when his back is up against the wall, and he's got a chance to prove it again in an offense that is going to make him successful if run correctly.
