Some Philadelphia Eagles fans still wake up to nightmares that former offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo caused last season.
Patullo was Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni's right-hand man for most of his run with the Eagles. Last year was the first time Sirianni gave his buddy a chance to run an entire offense in his coaching career.
That decision proved horrific for the Eagles, as they finished in the bottom 15 in total offense, passing, rushing, and scoring for the first time in the Sirianni era. Patullo wasn't brought back in the role this offseason; instead, he went to the Miami Dolphins as their passing game coordinator. That decision hasn't worked out in South Beach so far.

Early reports out of training camp have not been great for the Dolphins out of the gate with new head coach Jeff Hafley. As Miami Herald's Omar Kelly shared at the Dolphins' most recent practice, things are getting bad on offense.
"Dolphins practice is over. The Dolphins offense was a disaster. They were so bad Malik Willis got the team together for a talk midway through. It didn’t help."
In their two preseason games, the Dolphins have scored 10 points. Looking at the passing game, they have completed 16-of-40 passes (40%) for 161 yards and one interception.
A passing attack that is struggling to produce much of anything? Eagles fans have seen this song and dance before under Patullo.
To be fair to Patullo, the Dolphins' offense was expected to be among the worst in the league. It is also just preseason, but even he had better success calling the Eagles' offense in preseason last year.
The Eagles are thankful for the change they made at offensive coordinator with young offensive guru Sean Mannion. While Mannion might be in a similar situation to Patullo's last year as a first-year play-caller, Mannion is implementing a completely new offense that will do everything Patullo did not do in 2025.
This new offense will feature pre-snap motions, more variety from the running backs, throwing passes in the middle of the field, and far fewer hitch routes. The offense can really be known as the anti-Patullo scheme.

Patullo may not be running the show, but he has enough influence on it to justify some fingers being pointed at him for the Dolphins' struggles on offense. Philly has to worry about Mannion, and despite some ups and downs, this Eagles offense's potential gives many fans hope for the future.
