Now, just about two and a half weeks until the 2026 NFL Draft, it's becoming clearer and clearer who the Philadelphia Eagles are potentially targeting to select.

There are plenty of positions the Eagles need to address, but the cornerback position could have their attention more than some think. In a recent interview with NFL Draft On SI's Justin Melo, San Diego State cornerback Chris Johnson discussed his recent visits and chats with NFL teams, including the Eagles.

"I’ve been all over those Zoom meetings, man. I probably met with, I don't know the exact number, but I have to be deep in the 20s [25+ teams] by now. I’ve probably met with almost every team so far. I’ve had more than one Zoom meeting with some of them. I just met with the Philadelphia Eagles for the second time."

Chris Johnson might be someone the Eagles look to bring in

Johnson is coming off a strong season at San Diego State after being named the Mountain West Conference Defensive Player of the Year with 48 tackles, eight pass deflections, four interceptions, two touchdowns, one sack, and one forced fumble. He performed well at the NFL Combine as well, with a 4.40-second 40-yard dash and a 1.54-second 10-yard split.

Last year, after the trade deadline, Eagles general manager Howie Roseman talked about the importance of building depth at the cornerback position. This offseason, he has shown that by signing Riq Woolen and Jonathan Jones at cornerback.

Where Johnson could fit in is as a developmental player for the first year behind Woolen before the Eagles decide on whether to bring back Woolen from his one-year deal or roll with Johnson moving forward. Philly would have to act quickly on Johnson if they wanted him, as he is considered to last only until the second round.

There are a lot of depth pieces at cornerback for the Eagles, but very few are actual playmakers. Johnson has a nose for the football and would be a great versatile, physical corner for Philly.
